Anyone run one or know of someone that does? The only one in town is closing shop (age/retirement) and I love their pizza. Kind of want to buy it. I just don't know the margins. I have the time to work it and money, but not sure if it's worth it. And I don't care about the night time hours. Travel would be harder, but the current owner was not remotely tech savvy and I think I could streamline ordering and delivery.

Weird thread I know, but seriously considering it. Relatively low labor costs and product costs in my estimation. Could deliver to about 4,000 people. Parties. Fundraisers. I know how to market, so not worried about sales. Also no in house seating, so no servers needed. Just a phone person/front desk type. No liquor license needed. Connected to a bar next door where people will order. Goal is to just pull in $70-100k/year.

I thinking out loud on a forum. Trash the idea if you want. I won't be offended. And no.... it's not a Pizzagate type place... lol

The sense I get is you have an almost perfect and enviable life. I say, even if this is a good opportunity, let it go. Enjoy life with wife and kids, its shorter than we think, in many cases. Also, travel, like you do.

I make some money, so it's not like I'm worthless and I do take care of the kids. I want something though. Purpose. I love pizza, not joking. I know the owner. I gave him a counter top when we rehabbed our house.

Oldest is about to start driving so those duties will be limited for me. I've taken 7 years off roughly (not crying poor me, I'm fortunate). I just need something to do. Making pizza sounds fun. Not a knock on them, but I know I can run it better than they can. They have zero digital presence. They don't market to say a kids birthday party two towns over. Sure you drive, but selling 10 pizzas at once is a no brainer.

It's also for the town. We have too many vacant storefronts. It's beer and food basically. I don't know, it's a pride thing I guess on multiple levels. I'm invested in the place I live. I don't want to see a business leave. Remember this is small town living. This is not a suburb with 10k+ or more people when businesses leave all the time or close.

Sounds like a modest financial risk. I think you would regret not doing it. A man needs productive engagement and a creative outlet.

This is an interesting point. Do men need to be productive/creative or whatever aligns with this sentiment? Says who, the man or the society that he lives in? What's wrong with just enjoying life if you can, since wookieman does have the option to do so?

Even if you are not making any money or are not being "productive" or have "pride" or whatever....., you are not worthless. You are just more fortunate than you think.

Gone it's all gone! The good Chinese places, the Pizza place down the street, the awesome Jewish deli, and great little Dinner breakfast nook.
All that's left is shitty crappy corporate food places all using the same precooked and pre-prepped food service, charging 4 times more than those great little eateries charged.
Commercial RE rent is through the roof, food has inflated beyond budget busting, no skilled workers demanding $15 an hour. Patrons seeking out Kiosk food, so they don't have to exchange words with employees. Restaurants once a nice break and a get away from the day, has turned into a dystopian Prison cafeteria serving cardboard food, for a kings ransom. Bon Appetite.
