... if the admin's overarching policy is to do away with the "free trade"? Don't their attacks on shipping serve basically the same purpose as tariffs - introduce friction into import-shit-to-US economy?

The purpose of tariffs is not to cause friction. It's to let other countries know that they can't get away with taking business away from the USA

I don't think we're at war with Yemen, just with the Houthis. If that's who is controlling Yemen, color me unsurprised.

Word gymnastics. Tariffs are causing trade friction no matter what the message behind them. The goal for tariffs as stated is bringing manufacturing back to the USA. Any friction on trade advances this goal. Ergo houthis are working towards bringing manufacturing back to the USA.

If they control most of the country, including the capital, do they control Yemen? They obviosly do. If they control Yemen and we at war with them it means we are at war with Yemen. I'm old enough to remember certain somebody running on ending 2 wars and not starting any new ones.

They're like the Barbary Pirates back in the early 19th Century. Bitch slap them enough and they'll seek other prey.

Maybe we need to bomb their ports and kill hundreds until the "rebel leader" kisses the USA's ring?

Maybe instead, the USA could leave Suez and its security to the Euro-Fags, and instead concentrate on consolidating the Panama Cana?

Again, why? We're wasting $2M missiles on $40K drones protecting "freedom of navigation" and "free trade" we supposedly don't even want anymore.

Gaza has been bombed into smithereens and nobody is kissing any rings so far. Even the ceasfire brokered by that obtuse Russian Jew (Witkoff) has collapsed.

Tariffs aren't bombing ships.
The purpose of a war with Yemen would be to undo the burden that has been done by the Obama caliphate.
Obama should go out there and be a human shield from our bombs, that would be nice.

So you're arguing Isolationism now? How consistent.

Yes, let the 7 seas fall to pirate predation except to ships flying United States flags protected by a US Navy escort to conduct trade anywhere in the world.

Once the rest of the world has lost what they took for granted, the USN can contract with individual companies to guarantee their shipments. Later perhaps nations will consider it advantageous to have universal USN escorts. Then we'll get back to doing what the USN did for free now costing the rest of the world multiple billions of dollars per year.

Trump has effectively ended the blanket USN protection of shipping lanes.

Us needs it's own puppet dictator in other countries. Yemen wasn't doing want us wants.

15 (MQ-9) x $28M = $420M

Government efficiency!

Remember, one US Ship mistakenly attacked 60 years ago in the middle of a hot war = OUTRAGEOUS, must cut off the country responsible!

But, multiple US Ships attacked last year, from Maersk Yorktown to Ocean Jazz, and the Houthis take credit for the attacks and warns more attacks = GIVE PEACE A CHANCE, Warmonger!
