Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) is beginning to shift some of its AirPods production to Vietnam and out of China, according to a recent report. Citing unnamed sources, the Nikkei Asian Review reports that around 30%, or 3 million to 4 million, of Apple's AirPods will be produced in Vietnam. Production of Apple's higher-end AirPods Pro will remain in China, however.

From one COMMUNIST country to another. Couldn’t even consider somewhere like Thailand where you’d have to pay half the minimum wage here in the USA but the workers are free.

He estimates that Apple makes a gross profit—the difference between a product's sale price and the cost of producing it—of $90 to $100 on every AirPods sold. That implies a manufacturing cost of $59 to $69 per pair. On that basis, AirPods would account for a gross profit of $5 billion—a sizable amount on its own. Fortune Aug 6, 2019

In 2022, AirPods reportedly brought in $14.5 billion in revenue. Assuming a 50% profit margin, that's over $7 billion in profit just from a single product.

I wonder how much China parts are part of supply chain even with moving production to Vietnam. And who owns the factory ? A Chinese state company ?

Apparently, the Chinese want too much for their labor now, so the factory has got to go!

The Yuan is still about the same, 1 yuan equaled 12 cents in 1996 and it now equals 14 cents.

Here is a 2017 article about rising labor costs in China: https://www.cnbc.com/2017/02/27/chinese-wages-rise-made-in-china-isnt-so-cheap-anymore.html

Experts are raising the alarm over links between Apple’s wireless AirPods earbuds and a surge in disturbing neurological issues among young people and children.

Noise-canceling listening devices are sold as being “safer” as they block out background sounds more effectively. ...

The idea is that wearers are less likely to turn up the volume of music or podcasts.

However, audiologists are warning that referrals among young people with hearing difficulties have spiked significantly in just a handful of months.

On inspection, however, they discover their hearing is normal.

Instead, the problem is neurological because their brain is struggling to process what it hears and differentiate sounds.

They are still there for the most part. Where they have moved some operations to Vietnam and India m, China has been blocking the export of key components only Foxconn and such can still make.

The entire Apple board should be charged for fiduciary irresponsibility.

Never used them. Over the ear and no noise cancelling. The sound is awful when I tried them with noise cancelling.

My flight down to Mexico was a baby nightmare in front and back of me. I got drunk. That's the best noise cancelling you can get.

Neurology is a strange science. Sight and sound are big factors having gone through a seizure. Live shows I wear one of those relief band things now if I know the lights will be intense. I don't know what changed when I hit about 39. Probably covid is the only thing I can think of having had it 4 times.

I don't think all the early deaths are from the vaccine. Many yes, I think the virus itself might be the culprit long term. There's no reason to go from a 10 to a 5 in three years at 41, yet still feel completely fine if that makes sense.

Never ever got sea sick until I got covid. Never once remotely. Now I struggle on boats. Planes I can manage even with rough turbulence. Boats are getting to me though now. Which sucks.

Tesla is the ONLY company in China that is not half-owned by the CCP. Even Apple bent the knee, likely so the CCP could install malware into iPhones during production.

It doesn't matter: if your factory is located on China soil you're beholden to the CCP. You don't exactly MAGA giving jobs to Chinamen - we need these good manufacturing jobs back home.

Could be that the new Tesla battery factory is for Chinese and other Asian consumers only.

Apple said Monday it plans to invest $500 billion in the United States, hire 20,000 people and open a new manufacturing factory in Texas over the next four years.

“We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we’re proud to build on our long-standing U.S. investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country’s future,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive, in a statement.

Elon?

So? Make them in the USA and export to Chyna and other Asian countries. And if they put tariffs on them - retaliate. These DOGE-fired gubming workers need jobs, don't they? Same for JD Eyeliner's friends and family back in the hills.

This morning, CNN ran a breaking story headlined, Trump threatens Apple with a 25% tariff if it doesn’t build iPhones in America.

Apple had already announced it would move its Chinese manufacturing of phones intended for U.S. sale to India, and invest $500 billion in new American data centers. But apparently that isn’t good enough.

“I have long ago informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect their iPhones that will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States, not India, or anyplace else,” Trump fumed this morning on Truth Social. “If that is not the case, a Tariff of at least 25% must be paid by Apple to the U.S. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Last week, in his whirlwind Middle East dealmaking trip, President Trump met with Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook. CNN reported that last week in Qatar, Trump told reporters, “I had a little problem with Tim Cook.” Trump continued, “I said to him, ‘Tim, you’re my friend. I treated you very good. You’re coming in with $500 billion. But now I hear you’re building all over India. I don’t want you building in India.’”

Apple is the world’s most valuable publicly traded company. It is flush with cash, and rakes in more profit than any company in history, while making very useful products that are more or less indispensable in modern life and whenever a scrolling compulsion becomes irresistable. Apple has enough lobbyists to occupy a small Northeastern city, enough lawyers to pack a Super Bowl stadium, and is not easily swayed by any government’s passing whims or desires.

I approve. I really thought the only result of Trump's talking to Apple would be relocation of manufacturing from China to India.

Never heard about tariffs being imposed on one product of one American company. How is it even going to be implemented and on what authority? National emergency? How the fuck one consumer product made by one company is a national emergency?

Did MTG sell her stocks yesterday?
