Nazi Germany created registration that seemed like an improvement to bureaucracy and harmless, but 10 years later was used to round up and kill Jews. Sooner or later, a very bad group of people come to power, and only thing that limits them is government tech. Ever since NSA and Patriot Act we've been going down Orwellian state at rapid speed. And no president since stopped it. We still have Guantanamo, we still have surveillance state, we are getting digital ID's, any modern car you buy spies on you and can be remotely controlled.

And world is heading toward either war or collapse, capitalism petered out, planet has its limits. And during difficult times is when government claws come out. It'll be scary stuff.

Real ID is the only way to track illegals and especially overstays reliably.

The resistance to Real ID comes from Koch and other mass scale illegal employers like Piedmont Poultry Pluckers and California Lettuce Plantation Owners and Larry's Leaky Roofs, who will then have No Plausible Excuse as to why they employed illegals.

Whenever you fly, the Airline and the Government already have tons of identifying info without Real ID. From the ticket number to the list of passengers. If they want to hound you, American Airlines or the City/State Port Authority will hand it right over, no warrant needed. This was true before the Patriot Act.

There is absolutely zero impact on people who are already US Citizens, being identified as US Citizens. The government already has your birth certificate, DD214, signature, SSN, etc.
