Computers are only as useful as their programming, and when they are programmed by psychopaths, you get automated psychopathic results. Estimates are that well over 98 percent of financial movements are made by automated robot AI programs. Of course, centralized control by ever smaller groups means they cannot manage without AI. People want to believe in miracles. They believed in philosopher's stone. Now they believe in "AI". They think that if they give a trendy name to a dumb computer algorithm it suddenly would become smarter. In reality, intelligence of a modern supercomputer is comparable to a flat worm. A round warm is smarter than a flat worm, fyi.
The "AI" algorithms may work OK for interpolation problems but they are terrible for extrapolation (predictions). They will learn expensive lessons eventually.
