The Russians themselves don't dispute this.

It's all propaganda. Ukraine is on Western Life Support with 4-5M people as refugees who will probably never return and would have long since collapsed with the US and EU paying the pensions and salaries and repairing all the infrastructure damage and providing constant replacement of industrial and military vehicles.

But also, Russia has a crapsack of an Army that SHOULD have overwhelmed Ukraine by sheer force of numbers, but made a series of dumb decisions and ended up having to retreat because the UA units they ploughed out of the way were able to reform and then cut their supply lines behind them. Now it's all drones and missile strikes and small unit actions here and there.

One other reason as well - Putin found out after the invasion that much of the money earmarked to equip, maintain, and supply tanks and related equipment was pilfered leaving many units with hardware that was unfit to deploy.

If the Russians win they have to deal with the destruction. I guess that's a win? Stupid war either way. Russia is not winning by any metric. They will if a cease fire agreement does happen, but there are no signs of Russia winning 3 years deep into this. This is a decade long war.

I've made dozens of comments on this. I give little to no shits about either country. We held 2 countries for at least 15 years each. We lost more people in Chicago in that time than soldiers in those two countries. Russia and Ukraine have both likely lost 6 figures plus compared to about 4,800 over a decade in a half with our shit show in the ME. Really think about it. It's nearing just 3 years.

Russia looks weak. Ukraine was never dominant in anything. My prediction is Ukraine gives up land and joins NATO in a peace deal. That's a major loss to Russia. They're walled in. That's the end game here. Give them the land, but Russia done fucked up in the long run. There's no other way to spin it. I don't want to give Ukraine anymore money, but I know what the goals are.

We're building a wall and this is the last brick. Using Ukraine as a pawn while weakening Russia. Ukraine will be a NATO country at some point.

Fact is Russia has had plenty of time to come to the table. They won't. Why? There's no one actually thinking of even invading them. They made their own bed. I don't care if nukes get lobbed.
