Think about it: his demand that NATO countries bring their military spending to 5% (from current 2% at best) means 2.5x increase in spending on weaponry and who is the biggest weapons exporter in the world? Our very own MIC, that's who.

Disagree. He just wants countries to pay their way. Why do we pay more?

It does benefit the MIC for sure. But if you get attacked as Germany for example and are paying 50% in an "alliance" get fucked. Pay or get out and defend yourself.
2   RWSGFY   2025 Jan 27, 9:13pm

Who would attack Germany? Zee Nazis? 🤡
3   PanicanDemoralizer   2025 Jan 27, 9:43pm

United Germany has a military that is 1/4 the size of the FRG Bundeswehr alone in 1989, and far less equipped. That's NOT counting the Landeswehr or Reserves of that era. .That's how pitifully understrength and underfunded the German military is.

All bullshit. We can't even afford to raise our military spending to 5% GDP. Europe definitely can't for sure.

But it makes a nice pretext for the US to withdraw because they can't make that.

What is the point of military spending if your country is filled with people inviting invaders into your home?

There's a shadow budget. It's probably more than 5% for the US. Maybe not for NATO specifically but we spend a ton on Military.

Either way you're right there's no chance Euro's could keep up. They don't produce anything. Cars? Probably some produce and wine or something. What does Europe provide to the world? They rely on tourist. "Oh look an old building." I prefer new buildings.

President Trump ALWAYS starts negotiations from a preposterous ask.

We are at 3.45% and Poland is at 4.2-4.5% iirc. Zee Germanz saved so much by shrinking their military over the last 30 years they can totally afford to splurge now.

At least 2 NATO countries - Lithuania and Estonia - have already committed to spend 5%.

Maybe, maybe not. We also don't know if 5% is hard and final demand or just an opening salvo before negotiating it down to 3% or so.

PS. What has the lenghts of the border with USSR have to do with any it? We know that OUR GREAT CHRISTIAN LEADER only attacks Jewish Nazis who provoke him by operating BioWEAPONSlabs where they grow special winterized mosquitos capable of giving syphilis only to people with 99% pure Mordovian blood. I don't think Finland has/does any of it, so she's safe. Pukin has withdrawn majority of troops from that border and burned them in Dumb-Ass like 1.5 years ago.

Vance just said that the US needs to spend more on defense that it's spending now.

It will be fun to watch all the "MIC! MIC!! MIC!!!" Janes flipping a 180, LOL.

If Canada has enough to start funding new construction in lumberjack and prarie towns for Turd World immigrants, they have enough for frigates and icebreakers and more Arctic Weatherized aircraft.

Damn, $100 millions for one F-35 must bring good profit, in the era of disposable paper drones which are capable to do more damage.

Feb 10 (Reuters) - The Trump administration plans to push European allies to buy more American weapons for Ukraine
18   RWSGFY   2025 Feb 13, 8:59am

WASHINGTON — Congressional Republicans are pushing for at least $100 billion in additional defense spending during the next decade to boost the military’s budget and advance President Donald Trump’s agenda. The two chambers are working on two different budget resolutions that will direct the House Armed Services Committee and the Senate Armed Services Committee to develop legislation detailing how the money will be spent. The Senate Budget Committee’s resolution calls for a $150 billion increase in defense spending to expand the Navy, strengthen the defense industrial base, build an integrated air and missile defense system and continue the modernization of strategic nuclear forces. About $20 billion would also increase funding for the Coast Guard.

The House Budget Committee’s fiscal blueprint, released Wednesday, proposes a $100 billion spending cap for the military. The committee will debate the measure Thursday, and the Senate Budget Committee began its deliberations Wednesday. Both resolutions are part of a Republican effort to enact Trump’s agenda...

After Musk gets through with the audit, they'll find enough money savings in the DOD to fund whatever they want - and more.

United States President Donald Trump plans to dramatically ramp up weapons sales to India this year, including supersonic F-35 fighter jets, following a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Still must spend 5% of the GDP - such is Trump's requirement for all NATO countries. Our MIC will be drowning in $$.

Not really. Look up the figures on how much is spent by the DoD on pensions, VA and disability payments. - And it is only gonna go up.
