(Reuters) -Jif peanut butter maker J.M. Smucker (SJM) forecast annual profit below the estimate on Tuesday, as sequential price hikes have been squeezing demand for its dog snacks and sweet baked goods.

Shares of Orrville, Ohio-based company were down about 7% in premarket trading.

Packaged food makers, including J.M. Smucker, Kraft Heinz and Campbell's Co, have been raising product prices to counter higher costs from commodities, such as green coffee, which have hurt their sales.

J.M. Smucker is among the firms that have been facing the brunt of the Trump administration's ever-shifting tariff policy, which has disrupted businesses and rattled shoppers worldwide.

Seems like a lame reason. Must be a regional thing? I'm not the primary shopper, but I really haven't noticed pricing being that bad. When the wife is out of town I'll shop to get by, but I can still get stuff cheaper than 5 years ago. Sale/expiring meat is my biggie. Here Tuesday is the day to go. Get you in with new sales and the stuff that is about to expire from last week is 50-80% off and you freeze it for meat.

I'll probably make a token visit today actually.

The rapeseed oil, rebranded as "Canola" oil so as not to trigger the sensitive, is there because it's so toxic it kills mold.

I used to wonder why that shit in is everything, often in small amounts. That's the reason. It's a preservative.

Hydrogenating it to make it stick in your arteries better is just insult to injury.

Corporate profit is the reason to inject fillers into these products. They might not have .25 cents into that product. Mayo is one that is full of crap oils and priced thru the roof. It's either soy, canola with high fructose corn syrup. Most all BBQ sauce is crap and too sweet.

It’s really easy to make your own barbecue sauce. After reading the ingredients on the store bought stuff I threw it out. On the hand I can’t live without Dukes Mayo.
