My wife looks at the Scandinavian shows and asks why everything is so orderly and clean.
Shit, you watch shows from around 2000 and LA looks great. The only places looking like that any more are increasingly smaller and smaller, richer and richer enclaves.
Even Santa Cruz, one of the highest rental markets in the nation, would still pass as a low middle class area anywhere else in America. That's why it's so funny people from elsewhere see the sugar shacks with tiny kitchens and ramshackle buildings close to the beach in media and think that the poor people on TV actually live there. What they encounter when on vacation is these places start at over well a million (multi) if even livable and those ragged looking beach bums are either inheritors or (multi) millionaires .
